  Hi people. Great site you made.

   

  Of cource I want do solve the challenges on my own. But sometimes a claryfication is usefull. Or the challenge I am "working" on right now. Level 1/17. It seems pretty easy to me. I know alle the graphics and what they stand for, but my solution is not accepted. Now I see myself trying differend variations of the names of the programms. Which is even more tedious because there are four graphics and I don't know which of them I wrote correctly and which I wrote wrong. I think this kind of difficulties are not in the sense of the challenge.

  Maybe someone can clarify where you draw the line from legal help and forbidden help at challenges in general. And (if it is permited) maybe someone could get me on the right track at Level 1/17. ^^

   

  Again: Great site. Thank you for that. Maybe the forum looks a little bit confusing. Take this as constructive critics please.

  I agree that there should be some tolerance about asking for help. I remember that challenge specifically because I tried so many combinations. If you PM me, I might be able to provide some help.

  For this challenge (1/17), the description does indicate the solution is case-insensitive, which helps to clear any doubts about the solution being wrong due to case.

  If you have the right string consisting of 4 names, your solution should work.

  In any case, the challenges here also test one's determination - whether you give up after some tries or you keep persisting.

  I remember one particular challenge of the now defunct Cyberarmy. It was a level 2 challenge involving chatting with a bot. It took me quite long (over 2 hours) to just figure out what the challenge was about. It was frustrating and one was tempted to quit. But I solved it eventually it was really satisfying. Had I qiven up, my fun would have stopped at level 1 but I went on to level 7 and enjoyed every one of the challenge.

  I've solved many many challenges over many years at several sites.

  The only thing I am sure to find in the top ranks of any site is perseverance.

  One will develop a tolerance for frustration... a useful life skill.

  Yes thats true. I am also not unexperienced. I was most active at bright-shadows.net. Sad that it is offline at the moment. I solved more than hundred challenges there (about 1/3) and a few on a couple of other sites.

   

  Some challenges took me days. Tenacity is a really needed in the real world while these challenges are prepared to be solved. So it might be a good thing when challenges inexorable. But I think that is more a facet for technical challenges where one detail, in extrem a single bit, might make you fail. Challenge 1/17 is more a knowlegde challenge where such things might not be in its sense.

  There is anohter aspect: Fairness upon challengers. When all the other challengers solved this challenge without any help than it would be unfair if I get some. Or vice versa. I don't know if others got help on this or other challenges.

  So here is what I will do: I'm gonna try it again on my own. I will collect all possible candidate names I can think of and their variantions. And then I will take my self written brute force algorithm. :) and let it generate all variations of the candidates. Don't be afraid, I will not brute force the server. I will see what I've got and maybe the number of results can be handled manually.

  If that does not work I can still ask for help.

  By the way. This textarea thing behaves strange on layouting linebreaks / paragraphs.
