I figure you guys to be the type that might enjoy these things too, so I thought I'd let you know about them in case you didn't already.
1. Security Now - http://www.grc.com/SecurityNow.htm
It's a netcast I've been listening to every week for over a year now. There's a lot of good information and interesting stuff they talk about, and I know it's definitely increased my knowledge of security, and the way the internet works, as well as my knowledge of cryptography, and other security related issues. I wouldn't say it's directly helped me solve any challenges here, but it's definitely made a "real world" impact on me.
2. On Intelligence - http://www.onintelligence.org/
It's a book I just finished reading. I was actually turned on to it by the Security Now netcast. They mentioned it as a fascinating read, so I though I'd pick it up, and it definitely is fascinating. It presents a new theory of how the brain works. When I read through the book there were quite a few times when the author explained something, and instantly a hundred different odd things I've noticed about my own brain fell in to place. When you read it you really get a few "AHA!" moments when you see how perfectly and elegantly this "new understanding" of the brain fits in with and explains your own observations.
