I find myself needing some kind of motivation.
Some of these challenges are really hard and I've only just begun.
I am new to this whole thing, I see there are other sites that also do these kind of puzzle related challenges.
I realize you do kind of learn new things from this kind of game, as I have never used my intellect so much.
But are there any other kind of rewards for progressing and making it to the 9th level?
Ok so I read you get to meet the Great Sphinx, the Admin of the site. But why is that so great?
Have some of you Pharoahs(upper level people) actually changed/progressed in life in any way just because of this site?
As I said I am looking for motivation. While this is definately a good time killer that you benefit from. I just feel I need some re-assurance because I can't believe how hard it is just on level1 alone! I'm trying not to give up here!
Interesting questions ;)
While the games are designed to motivate the solver through level and rank progression, the motivation really comes from the self. If you enjoy solving hard problems or challenges, learning, discovering, you'll tend to be motivated to persist. Otherwise, chances are you'll easily give up as soon as you're stuck.
The Great Sphinx in "meet the Great Sphinx" is really just a metaphor - not referring to me the admin ;P
The Great Sphinx of Giza has been a source of mystery, so meeting Him could be a source motivation, so to speak.
>Have some of you Pharoahs(upper level people) actually changed/progressed in life in any way just because of this site?
Hm...I'm not sure how this question can be answered. For me, when I did the old Cyerarmy challenges, gaining a higher rank is a source of motivation and satisfaction. The knowledge learned, discovered has also helped me to be become more aware of web vulnerabilities and securities and has proven to be valuable. It is a journey I remember fondly of.
Update:
Incidentally, I was at this site Gigablast yesterday. To submit a url, you need to enter four large letters shown on the page. I believe some of the members here can automate that process with a script :P Maybe they knew how to do it before solving the challenge here, but if they were exposed to the nature of the problem here and figured a way to do it, then that's a practical skill learned.
I see...
In solving a few more puzzles today it did feel great, epecially after I realized how easy they actually were.I saw the fun in completing the task. Even better though, during the process I learned something about my self and also found things that interested me. Part of the process of solving the challenges includes doing research, as you already know...so, it is obvious the kind of things you can gain as part of solving these puzzles. I can only imagine that there is much more knowledge to gain and new topics to come across.
I used to be interested in VB when I was younger. But I gave up on that a long time ago...now I am interested again in learning some new programming languages...hell, I might start programming again if I find I like it as much as I used to. Other than that, the logic puzzles, cryptology, etc. I think can benefit me in real life. Not a whole lot but somewhat...in weird ways too. Basically, I won't give up. Especially when I don't have any thing to lose here. Just time, but that's not even important...especially when I'm gaining knowledge in return.
So have you completed the Cyberarmy challenge? How long did it take? I've actually been looking at that site ever since I found it on the links section. If it's like this one or that Challenge your mind one I might check it out.
No, unfortunately I didn't. I was a Lt Kernel before the site went down. I think there were two more levels above that: Kernel and General.
I remember a challenge that took me around two weeks to solve. And when it was finally done, I had that really satisfied feeling. It was hard at that time given my skills and knowledge then, but I can probably do it in five minutes now.
One of things I suspect contributed to its huge success was the ranking system and the "power" that came with it. Each higher rank came with at least one responsibility or privilege - and the members (at that time) loved it.
But the new one Cyberarmy.net is a bit different.
I really don't know if anyone can answer this following question...trying is better than doing nothing at all.
If you find yourself in a need to libby, how would you go about it if you had no means to do it the normal way?
You probably know the path is most likely to be hot, and no one deserves to get their feet burned,
However in the desperate situation I find myself in, I almost am willing to burn a toe or 2 of my own, but I would rather remain uncrippled. Am I being wishful or can you tread on hot turf un-scathed?
The normal way isn't always accurate...but going beyond that I am sure can be a dangerous alternative. I just have no other way at the moment.Haha.
Well I feel very suspicious of someone and most background checks cost money that I don't have right now.
But I really need to dig dirt up on this guy. He's secretive about his past and tries not to talk about it.
He's my mom's boyfriend and simply put, he's the worst boyfriend a mom could ever have...
I understand you're concerned about your mom. But I'm not sure if doing background checks on this guy would lead to other problems, besides the money. What if he finds out?
Have you spoken to you mom about how you feel? Or have you sought advice from your seniors - an uncle or auntie?
Yes I have tried. The situation is hard to explain and it would take a while to point out the details. The reason why I say it's the worst boyfriend a mom could have, it's one of those boyfriends who are SO bad in every single way possible...they even have a blindfold on your mom that so that they can't see it.
Although it's not as bad now as it used to be...but my mom once defended his foolish and immature negative actions toward her and our family. I think the blindfold...a drug is partially to blame for that...this is why I need to dig some dirt up.
How would he find out? Is there really a way you can check if someone used a background check on your files? That is most likely the case if you did a check on an x-cop right?
